A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated §11-21-43a, relating to authorizing a tax credit for teachers for out-of-pocket school supplies not to exceed $200.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section, designated §11-21-43a, to read as follows:
PART I. GENERAL.

ARTICLE 21. PERSONAL INCOME TAX.
§11-21-43a. Credit for teachers' out of pocket school supplies.
For taxable years beginning on and after January 1, 2010, teachers in grades K through 12 shall receive a credit not to exceed $200, for out of pocket school supplies purchased during the school year. The Tax Commissioner shall provide by appropriate rule for the reporting, filing and application of claims of the tax credit provided in this section.


NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to authorize a tax credit, not to exceed $200, for teachers for out of pocket school supplies.
